The Big Announcement!

Well well, it would appear Timshel is entering into a new chapter. All names have been omitted in the following recap: When we formed in march 2003 as Screaming Tricks we were a 5-piece. We became Timshel in around September 2004 as a 4-piece. In June 2008 we split, reforming with new drummer and additional guitarist in around October 2008 under the name Sola. Then, going back to a 4-piece in Feb 2009 we re-took the name Timshel. Then we lost that drummer and found a replacement in about July 2009, then our original drummer rejoined in around September 2009. Now our bassist is swapping 4 strings for 6 to become an additional guitarist, paving the way for our new bassist to make his entrance. Makes us sound like Spinal bloody Tapp doesn't it?

So, Timshel is a 5-piece once more! Paul is rocking us on rhythm with his new Epiphone Dot and Fender Mustang. The new man is Adam Hill. Now I've known Adam for donkies! He is a man of many talents including, as well as bass, trombone, sound production, orchestration and arrangement, composition and a frankly intimidating consumption of Coke Zero. We're chuffed as nuts to have Adam on board, it's a bit like Jet Li joining a junior school judo team.

We kick off this new era with our Hobbit Bank Holiday show. Timshel will perform their last set with the old line-up giving a 45 minute Zep set. It was a one-off new year treat back in 2007/08, then reprised for the same occasion 2009/2010,now for the last time this August. The last time because you can't do Zep as a 5! Don't worry though, it kinda paves the way for that long awaited Pearl Jam tribute night doesn't it?

Band Biography

BAND BIOGRAPHY

Reformed in late 2009 after an 18 month lay off, Timshel originally formed way back in 2003. The band has written more than five albums of material and recently enjoyed their first official release through Southampton label Angry Badger Records with the EP "The Vagabond Cain", a re-working of the 2004 mini-album "What Am I?".

The band draw influence from just about any song they have enjoyed and sculptured a sound of 90's rock with 70's pinache for the new century. Some of the most commonly shared influences they have include Led Zepellin, Pearl Jam, The Alman Brothers, Nirvana, The Beatles, Guns N Roses, Blind Melon and The Black Crowes.

The four-piece pride themselves on musicianship and composition as well as critically acclaimed performances. Supports include Wishbone Ash and Larry Miller, and the band has played some of the best known venues in the south from Bournemouth to London.

They have their first official album release due this summer with tracks including fans favourite "High Angel", the string-laden balled "Fun For You", rock anthem "Blame" and the wonderfully subtle, latin influenced "Daddy Come Home" to name a few. With a few years more experience than other local acts, Timshel have cermented themselves firmly in Southampton's music scene primarily by the prolific writing of mini-masterpieces rammed with hooks, choruses, riffs, solos and drum fills, it's rock music as it was always intended, loud and proud!
