review: "Playing Out Loud" - timshel play the EP live
This online Live Music Guide teamed up with our record label "Angry Badger Records" to give us a show and an EP review.
Firstly check out this rather cool live review of what could have been a rather awkward gig...

"Timshel’s set does not get off on the right foot with singer James Carey’s acoustic guitar failing a late fitness test. The band therefore are forced to rethink their entire set. Many bands would sulk and melt into the corner but Timshel seem to almost thrive on the setback and rise to the occasion. Not only do they reshuffle their whole 40 minute slot but they have the sheer audacity to cover “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road?” from The Beatles’ White Album.
Covering The Beatles takes guts, covering a slightly lesser known throw away song by The Beatles takes even more guts but covering a lesser known Beatles song when your back’s already against the wall is possibly the bravest thing the band has done all year!
The set is a resounding success and with new EP “The Vagabond Cain” turning heads already, Timshel are ready for the next step"
They then go on to review our EP...
Call Upon The Author reviews "Vagabond Cain"
Check out the review we received for our EP "The Vagabond Cain" from the Call Upon The Author website. We think the use of the word Pearl Jam and Tom Morello was a little too frequent for liking. Still a review is a review....
"As I first listened to Timshel’s EP “The Vagabond Cain” all I could hear was a bizarre Pearl Jam cover band who have decided to write their own material, however after listening a few times I came to realise this wasn’t the case at all. The mixture of classic rock and grunge along with an Audioslave-esque twang definitely inspired me to dig out older albums by the likes of Ugly Kid Joe and Soundgarden. It’s a style of music I feel is becoming more and more forgotten as the math rock and typically “indie” take over and I therefore found Timshel to be a refreshing reminder of the good ol’ favourites.

Timshel Gigs And EP
So, October brings an end to our recent activity. We're taking some time out to brush up for the New Years show at The Hobbit, it's official that we're gonna do a Zep tribute once again, so it's going to take some work!
September was a good month for us though, 2 uni gigs with Kodiak Jack and Private & Rico, 2 superb bands who we'll be playing with a lot more we hope. Great set for the Angry Badger showcase too, busted out some classics including We Be Believed and Animal 2.
Which leads me neatly on to our first Angry Badger release,The Vagabond Cain. It's a 6 track EP containing our recordings from the unreleased 2005 album "What Am I?" as well as a bonus track on the first 100 pressed. We're launching it some time in November, date TBC, and we're looking forward to moving things up a gear going forward.
Life in Timshel is good right now, we're relaxed, enjoying our playing and we couldn't be happier to be on board with the Badger, this bodes well for the future.
One point to mention, next March will be 7 years. Can you believe that?!
