Band Biography

BAND BIOGRAPHY

Reformed in late 2009 after an 18 month lay off, Timshel originally formed way back in 2003. The band has written more than five albums of material and recently enjoyed their first official release through Southampton label Angry Badger Records with the EP "The Vagabond Cain", a re-working of the 2004 mini-album "What Am I?".

The band draw influence from just about any song they have enjoyed and sculptured a sound of 90's rock with 70's pinache for the new century. Some of the most commonly shared influences they have include Led Zepellin, Pearl Jam, The Alman Brothers, Nirvana, The Beatles, Guns N Roses, Blind Melon and The Black Crowes.

The four-piece pride themselves on musicianship and composition as well as critically acclaimed performances. Supports include Wishbone Ash and Larry Miller, and the band has played some of the best known venues in the south from Bournemouth to London.

They have their first official album release due this summer with tracks including fans favourite "High Angel", the string-laden balled "Fun For You", rock anthem "Blame" and the wonderfully subtle, latin influenced "Daddy Come Home" to name a few. With a few years more experience than other local acts, Timshel have cermented themselves firmly in Southampton's music scene primarily by the prolific writing of mini-masterpieces rammed with hooks, choruses, riffs, solos and drum fills, it's rock music as it was always intended, loud and proud!

BAND MEMBERS

James Carey - VOCALS/ACOUSTIC GUITAR

I guess singing is a bit like fishing, you never know what you’re going to dredge up from the river bed.

I often describe singing as just talking with volume, which is really all it is.

La la la.

Jami Wilson - GUITAR/BACKING VOCALS

I try to make it my mission to explore as many genres and styles of music as I can through my writing and playing. However, when it comes down to it I always come back to big riffs and screeching solos!

Can't help it, just an absolute sucker for rock music!

Rob Litten - DRUMS/PERCUSSION

Drumming is something that i spend most of my time thinking about, if i'm not practicing then I'm teaching it!

I've been playing since I was 11, I've been in a squillion bands and I LOVE many forms of music because if music be the food of love then its best not to be a fussy eater. I've also got myself a HND and a Degree in drumming from the Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford just to show off with really. I'm currently teaching locally to pay the bills with the desire that one day I can dedicate all my time to timshel!

P.S. Next person to buy me a beer at a gig gets to be my friend.

Paul Carter - BASS GUITAR

The main thing I like about the bass is the fact that I can control how much low end vibrations I can drive through the bodies of people that come to watch us play. I have never wanted to be the centre of attention on stage, but I don't mean that being a bass player in a band is a cop-out position to play.

Rhythm sections often hold a band together but with that said, I was lucky enough to end up in a band of other talents who are equally as good as each other on their chosen instruments. If you see one of them attempt to play a bass guitar though you will probably laugh for a week.

I love to gig, record our music and mess around as much as I can. The one thing I that i hope for this band is to be the most famous group in the world. Why settle for second best. Every band wants it whether they admit it or not.

Cheers to you all and i hope you come and watch us play!
