BAND BIOGRAPHY
Timshel formed in the summer of 2003 in Gosport before moving to Southampton, this four-piece rock band writes its own material and over the years has developed its own unique sound, style and fan base.
The band consists of James Carey (vocals/acoustic guitar), Jami Wilson (guitar), Paul Carter (bass guitar) and Rob Litten (drums/percussion). It was Jami and Paul that first formed the band with James and Rob joining at a later date.
They have been compared to artists such as Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, The Stone Temple Pilots and Audioslave as well as many others with opinions changing every time the band is seen live!
Timshel have released a music video for the song ‘Carbonara No. 3’ from the album ‘What Am I?’. A sample of the video as well as other tracks can be viewed on the Music/Download page of this site.
Timshel have played in many interesting places and venues such as The Joiners, The Brook, The Hobbit and The Talking Heads in Southampton, shows in Camden, Swanage, Portsmouth, Winchester, High Wycombe, Reading, Bristol and The Isle of Wight.
The band prides itself on its musicianship (Jami and Rob have both studied music professionally), live performances, diversity of material and continual self-improvement.
BAND MEMBERS
James Carey - VOCALS/ACOUSTIC GUITAR
I guess singing is a bit like fishing, you never know what you’re going to dredge up from the river bed. I often describe singing as just talking with volume, which is really all it is. La la la.
Rob Litten- DRUMS/PERCUSSION
Drumming is something that i spend most of my time thinking about, if i'm not practicing i feel guilty!
I've been playing since I was 11, I've been in a squillion bands and I LOVE many forms of music because if music be the food of love then its best not to be a fussy eater.
I've also got myself a HND and a Degree in drumming from the Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford just to show off with really. I'm currently teaching locally to pay the bills with the desire that one day I can dedicate all my time to this band.
I'm 6'2", my DOB is 20/10/80, my favourite colour is purple and some of my favourite bands are Radiohead, Chilli Peppers, Dream Theatre and The Dave Matthews Band - PHEW!

Jami Wilson - GUITAR/BACKING VOCALS
I offered my guiding hand to three poor, lost, wandering souls; and from buttercups we became He-men, our intergalactic rock music spreading through souls like a plague through the middle ages!
Seriously though, yes guitar is cool - but having a band that let you have lead breaks almost at will, well that's bloody marvellous. So, the important thing is to have as many as you need not want. Sure enough, the other week we wrote a song that didn't have a solo at all.
Paul Carter - BASS GUITAR
The main thing I like about the bass is the fact that I can control how much low end vibrations I can drive through the bodies of people that come to watch us play. I have never wanted to be the centre of attention on stage, but I don't mean that being a bass player in a band is a cop-out position to play.
Rhythm sections often hold a band together but with that said, I was lucky enough to end up in a band of other talents who are equally as good as each other on their chosen instruments. If you see one of them attempt to play a bass guitar though you will probably laugh for a week.
I love to gig, record our music and mess around as much as I can. The one thing I that i hope for this band is to be the most famous group in the world. Why settle for second best. Every band wants it whether they admit it or not.
Cheers to you all and i hope you come and watch us play!
